Race Report World Cup #7: Les Gets

Hattie wins her first World Cup

Les Gets 2026 will go down in the history of AON Racing! In what is only her second year of downhill racing, Hattie Harnden won her first World Cup race and pushed herself up to the second place in the overall standings. The result is monumental as this was the first ever elite victory with the belt driven bike, meaning she also won Gates Belted Purse award.

Weekend in Les Gets was one of the most challenging for the riders – in four days on the track (including track walk) they experienced four different conditions. The additional pressure in Haute Savoie also comes from the massive numbers of fans that make this race the event of the year. But everything on the track is a smaller story than the moments following Hattie’s final crossing of the finish line. She absolutely nailed it in the bottom part of the track and went straight in the lead, with two world class riders to go. But neither Marine Cabirou or Valentina Höll could match her time and victory went to Hattie! Well-deserved and a result of the incredible hard work & dedication. This is truly historic moment!

Hattie Harnden: “To be the first rider to win on a belt-driven bike is honestly pretty crazy. There’s been so much work, time and belief from the whole team behind this project, and it really feels like such a huge team effort. To be the one who gets to take that first win, and to do it on a Gates belt, is something I’ll always be incredibly proud of. It’s a massive moment for all of us at AON, and hopefully just the start of what we can do with this bike.”

Reece Wilson also had a great week, loving the muddy and slippery conditions on the mountain. He qualified in the first session and was fully prepared for the attack in the finals, still on the wings of the 2nd place finish from Andorra. But the excitement after Hattie’s win was overwhelming and that is not the best way to race downhill. Reece still did a decent run and finished in 21st place.

Henry and Stan finished the competition in the qualifications, both with amazing speeds. Stan was even on his way to be one of the fastest juniors but crashed and just lost too much time.

Time to go to Italy now and do our best in the battle for the rainbow jerseys. Thank you Les Gets, and see you in Val di Sole!
