Race-report: Enduro World Championships

Hattie 4th on the Enduro World Championships

UCI Mountain Bike World Championships kicked-off with the thrilling enduro race in Bellwald. We came to the race with a clear mission to take home a medal, but despite the best efforts Hattie finished the race in 4th. Great result for any other rider, especially after a five week recovery break, but this is of course not what Hattie was aiming for.

Hattie lost just over ten seconds on Sunday, on the first stage of the race. The whole race should take place on Monday, but due to the bad weather forecast organisers pushed the glacier stage on Sunday. It was beautiful up there, but the time lost for Hattie proved to be to too hard to get back.

Monday was more to Hattie’s taste, with wet conditions on all of the five stages. She won stage 4, which was likely one of the hardest on the race. That gave her some bragging rights, but it was not enough for the medal. Hattie is of course not satisfied with the result, but that will only gave her more fire for the downhill race.

We also had Vid Peršak on the enduro event, representing Slovenia. Vid didn’t had the best weekend and was struggling to find the speed; he finished in 52nd.

This is just the beginning of our week on the World Champs as we will have Monika, Hattie, Henry and Stan racing on the downhill race in Champery later in the week. Keep your fingers crossed!
