Monika takes 3rd in Val di Sole What an incredible day here in Val di Sole, AON Racing – Tourne Campervans has first downhill World Cup podium!
Monika Hrastnik delivered a phenomenal performance in the women’s elite finals, securing 3rd place and claiming our first-ever downhill UCI MTB World Series podium.
This is a huge milestone for our team — just six months into our journey, and we’re already standing among the world’s best.
Monika is of course over the moon: “I’m without words. I’m truly incredibly happy with third place here in Val di Sole. I felt great on the bike all weekend, and yesterday I was also the fastest on the track. Today’s final run wasn’t my best — I made some mistakes and was off the ideal lines, so I wasn’t expecting third place. I tried to put yesterday’s qualies victory out of my mind, but it was really quiet at the start. Today was the main day, and it turned out great.”
Hattie was also charging hard today, on a blistering run before a crash in the second split. Despite the setback, she showed true grit and determination, pushing on to finish in 8th place — with a faster race time than her clean qualifying run. An incredible effort that highlights her potential and fighting spirit.
We also need to take a look at men’s qualies on Friday. Reece had two difficult runs in Q1 and Q2, unable to put together a clean performance. Henry was well on pace for a spot in the finals, but crashed in the final split. Stan was on a top-15 pace on the juniors race before crashing in the last sector of the run. Speed is there, but so are all the traps that Black Snake hides underneath the dust. We’re just getting started!
Final results Monika – 3rd (8th overall)
Hattie – 8th (12th overall)
